ALF voters "assisted" in electing

One of the most outrageous things seen during the pretty riduculous Hialeah elections came Friday when a group of elderly and confused residents from an assited living facility on West 18th Avenue were driven to the early voting site in a chartered school bus and were "assisted" in voting by people working for or supporting Su Alcaldito Carlos Hernandez.

Many of them, or maybe all of them, voted without any identification. They were allowed to vote using provisional ballots that will later be reviewed and, Ladra believes, deemed invalid. Most of them, or maybe all of them, were assisted in the voting process by people from the home or this woman photographed in a black shirt assisting a man with a walker, who told them not to speak to the media and called police over when Ladra took photos. She was told that there was nothing they could do to stop me (that was refreshing). She is driving a Nissan Versa registered to Carmen Rodriguez Echea with Hernandez campaign material inside and a bumper sticker for su acaldito and also council candidates Pablito "Huh?" Hernandez, who is in a runoff with candidate Frank Lago, and Council President Isis "Gavelgirl" Garcia-Martinez (who won in the first round over former councilwoman Cindy Miel). She would not give me her name but was identified to me by a Martinez supporter as someone who works for AB Fraud Queen Sasha Tirador, su alcaldito's campaign manager, who has been investigated for electoral fraud before. The woman is supposedly her right hand woman. The woman with the white shirt and colorful scarf, who posed for Ladra as she sat on the platform at JFK Friday with Carlos Rodriguez, a paid alcaldito supporter, is the woman in black's daughter. She smiled and preened and pretended to be Rodriguez's girlfriend while her mom basically voted for the six voters from the ALF.

One man's diaper was showing and he complained of having urinated on himself. Others could not tell the reporters -- not just Ladra, but Erika Mayor of MegaTV, Sandra Peebles of Univision 23 and Marili Llano of Telemundo 51 -- who they voted for or what their names were even. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SGLayUBxS4) One man said "We were told we have to vote today." The driver of the bus told The Miami Herald's Christina Veiga that she did not know where she  picked them up and did not know where they would be dropped off. All of this to supress the fact that these people's votes downright stolen. Veiga followed the school bus, which went in circles through a residential area before finally coming to a stop at the ALF -- in an apparent effort to lose the tail. Owner (since 20120) Alicia Almeida arrived right after -- likely called by the bus driver or this lady in black or Hernandez people, in a black Lexus, Veiga wrote.

Hernandez denied having anything to do with the half dozen voters. "I don't know about that," he was quoted in El Nuevo Herald as saying. "I think that it is very important that the people who come to vote are people who are capable and can do so." But when Veiga talked to Almeida, owner of Alelise ALF at 6230 West 18th Ave. -- where there is a large "Keep Carlos Hernandez" sign in the front yard -- the woman said Hernandez had sent the yellow school bus. She did not allow Veiga to speak to any of the residents, claiming they had been shaken up by the media that clammored to find out what was going on -- not by the crazy detour taken by the bus driver in an un-airconditioned vehicle. Almeida also toldVeiga that the residents of the home -- which has a license to care for seniors with mentall illness -- were "of sound mind... They make decisions." But that's not what reporters saw when they were at JFK library and in Florida, voters can be barred from excersing their right if they are deemed mentally incapacitated.

Almeida added, as quoted in The Miami Herald. "They know Carlos. They’ve seen him They know I support him. But they can vote for whoever.”

Garcia-Martinez said she saw campaign workers for former Mayor Raul Martinez -- who was voting with his wife, Angela Martinez, when the bus came -- had helped seniors vote. "There have been frail seniors here all day," Gavelgirl told Veiga. "I’ve seen Raul’s people ...actually going in and voting for people. I have no idea how that was allowed.” Martinez called her a liar and said she was just trying to take attention away from what Hernandez had done with the frail and confused voters.

But the truth is Martinez has not chartered any bus for ALF voters to be shuttled to the library. And his campaign reports do not show any ALF contributions. The Hernandez campaign finance reports, however, show more than a dozen ALFs made donations that add up to thousands of dollars to su alcaldito's the campaign. A resident at another such facility, where the office is filled with su alcaldito's campaign, said that they were told that they had to vote for Hernandez because he was "going to improve the situation at the ALFs" and a nurse at a rehabilitation center told a Ladra collaborator that su acaldito himself had been there a couple of weeks ago to talk to residents about making improvements.

This is being added to the documentation that Ladra is compiling about absentee ballot fraud and voter manipulation on behalf of the Hernandez campaign. Let's see if more busloads of elderly and confused voters -- who can't tell us their names of what day of the week it is -- vote Saturday.

  1. Keep up the good work Elaine. These people are desperate and should be investigated. They are trying so hard to win this election to cover up all of the corrupt dealings over the past few years. There's a ton of money they want to make out of the unnecessary water plant in the annexed area and this just shows what length they will go to in order to see it through.

  2. How much I cant stand Raul Martinez I didnt want Carlos to win like this. I am going to be honest, Raul was famous for alot of what is happening now in the 80's and 90's. Again, I just voted for Carlos and i believe he will win with sixty percent plus of the votes but I didnt want to see the old folks in a voting parade.

  3. My name is Ana R. Fernandez and I am one pissed Cubanita-Americana! The person that just posed on “Political Cortadito” that he voted for “Carlos liar liar pants on fire Hernandez” but didn’t want to see the old people paraded for votes should be hog tied and thrown in the Florida Everglades along with Isis Garcia- Martinez, the ALF owner on west 18th ave, the Hernandez camp and the rest of the pigs behind the scenes that are taking advantage of these poor innocent old people. Basically, you voted for this criminal, Hernandez not because you believe he can in fact improve the City of Hialeah but because you hate Raul Martinez. That makes all the sense in the world to me. This is not the prom run off at your local high school or some kind of revenge f***, where now you go and sleep with the best friend of your ex just to get even. This is about the livelihood of 105 ethical Firefighters who were fired for “political vendetta” not to mention the very existence of an entire City; one of Dade County’ biggest and most popular City’s in fact. If you give Hialeah back to Carlos Hernandez you are giving him the power to continue to trample over the rights of hard working Americans who deserve better than to simply be lied to as if they are too ignorant to see through the B/S. Carlos Hernandez has NO respect for you, none my friend. NO respect at all. He is parading those abuelitos around like a bunch of show monkeys and thinks nothings of it. The owner of the Alf, Alicia Almeida (6230 west 18 ave) and Hernandez put these abuelitos into a hot school bus with no A/C, dragging them out in the middle of a hot Miami day; one abuelo was complaining that his diaper was wet ( see you tube video). Those good for nothing parasites that own the ALF’s are getting their pockets lined for allowing the abuelos to be used “I GARUNTEE IT ” Yet, people who are either too scared are simply too busy to get the facts are not considering Raul Martinez because of what he may have done in the 80’? Listen, at this point Hialeah residents are going to simply have to suck it up and deal with the hard cold facts. At least Martinez is willing to have Hialeah’s book’s open; he HONESTLY wants to come to the table for negotiations. The man actually did clean up Hialeah when he ran it for 20 years (even if he didn’t run in a “perfect way”). What positive thing has Hernandez done? There is no room for emotions or vendettas in this race; in fact that is why the city is in the mess it is in now. Leave that to the lower class that is Isis Garcia-Martinez and the Carlos Hernandez camp.
American people have always risen to the occasion. . We should be better than to vote based on race, religion or gender. We should be voting based on merit. On action; on whom will best suit us and our Cities needs and in my humble opinion, in the case of The City of Hialeah “who has lied to you the least”. Whatever you do, just do it with dignity.
    Stay safe.

  6. Citizens....I am one of those 105 firefighters that is on the chopping block. I am young, work hard, and get paid a low salary. I love my job and thank God everyday that I have been blessed to be in the position that I am in. For you to say those heartless and ignorant comments just goes to show the type of person that you are. I, along with my fellow firefighter/paramedics expose ourselves everyday to dangerous situations and all we want is honesty and transparency. We understand the status of the worlds economy and have always been willing to make the sacrifices required. Problem is the city has lied about the finances so we have no idea what the true numbers are. Shame on you for wanting people to lose their jobs.

  7. My friend, let’s be clear I love NO politician, none. I merely endorsed Martinez; I said nothing of idolizing anyone. Pay attention to detail. I am actually very much about the citizens; that should have been evident in my disgust in how those elderly people were so badly taken advantage off. As far as your statements about firing the firefighters and replacing them with new ones and how that is somehow supposed to be good for the economy; well that’s just too much miss information for me to even rap my pretty little head around with a person who is too cowardly to even state their name. So, as I sip my white wine and ponder your invite to “Carlos liar liar pants on fire Hernandez’s” victory party, I think of all the other things I rather do…
    1. Fight a fire naked
    2. Stab myself in the eye with a pencil
    3. Rip my finger nail off with one good pull
    4. Have dinner with Isis ‘LA CHUSMA ‘Garcia Martinez IN PUBLIC
    5. And last but not least I rather – f***ing eat shit than be seen with a piece of shit…
DIGNITY CAN NEVER EVER BE BOUGHT.
So, Thanks but no thanks I guess I will just have to cut my veins in private. LOL. 
    Ana.

  9. ANON:

"This is about the livelihood of 105 ethical Firefighters "

Mark my words: The firing 105 FF is a charade.

Its a Bluff. (isn't that right Elaine?)

The Unions KNOW that regardless of outcome they will have to make concessions. They are just betting that they will make less concessions with Raul (because he WILL raise taxes to fulfill his promise to them in exchange for their support this election).

see it this way: IT WAS THE UNION'S DECISION TO FIRE THOSE FIREFIGHTERS. Carlos and his crew simply allocated a budget. It's the unions responsibility to make due with what they are given. They can do that by lowering senior salaries, lowering benefits...or by doing none of this and firing FF's as they have done. Not much of a brotherhood there huh?

The union's petty games and lies will be revealed once Carlos is elected. Just watch.

The FF's will be remain in the force, albeit with LOWER salaries, pensions, and perks --- JUST LIKE EVERYONE IN THIS ECONOMY HAS HAD TO DO: City employees, Police, Private Sector employees..

  10. Married a firefighter; LMFAO…… My, mother raised me better than that. LMFAO. That was great. Married a Firefighter f*** that was good. Five reasons why you should never marry a firefighter; God, the guys are going to kill me!
    1. You can never be satisfied with only one.
    2. Some kiss and tell, just ask Isis- LA CHUSMA
    3. Their HOSES only get bigger as they move up in rank.
    4. They only end up leaving you for their other love “their fire engines”
    5. And finally, don’t marry a firefighter when YOU ARE ALREADY A FIREFIGHTER, HELLO STUPIED. LOL!!

Thank you for the belly ache this morning. Have a blest day.

  11. What does elaine and the firefighters have in common?

    ReplyDelete
  12. The move to fire the 105 firefighters is a retaliatory one. There are more than 30 unnecessary, unfilled positions in the water department -- from which the city has taken funds before, through the transfer of loans or property deeds or whatever. There are no bid contracts in the millions and millions that are doled out. There is NO NEED to cut the firefighters. The council nor the mayor have made cuts to their salaries in these "tough economic times." The mayor lies about his cut. He went from making $44,000 a year to making $190,000 a year (plus his $54,000 pension) and is using the city funds (employees, facilities) to further his campaign and political career.

The firefighters that were fired Oct. 1 came back to work after the rest of the department gave up two days of holiday pay. Not because the city gave anything. Negotiations are about give and take and the firefighters have said they are very willing to make concessions to preserve the quality of life in the city for the residents. What they are NOT willing to do is make concessions so that the council and the mayor can continue giving away lucrative contracts without going through any type of public vetting process, some of them to the very companies and people who contribute to their campaigns. Look at the contributions from Maguire, Metric and Better Leasing, as well as Mr. Duart, not just to the campaign but to the PACs. There is at least $20,000 donated to the campaigns of former mayor Julio Robaina and current alcaldito Carlos Hernandez. These are the people who are responsible for the Golden Million Dollar water pump station that leaks. Still.

The city and the mayor are not playing fair. They do not represent the numbers correctly. The $4.4 million in concessions ordered in court was based on the FALSE sworn statement of Robaina that the city would be $5 million in deficit that year if they did not impose those cuts. Then, voila! They show a $19 million surplus.

The city has continually provided conflicting and/or false and/or incomplete information. All the firefighters want is the truth. That's all. They are hard working, dedicated public servants who save our citizenry every day from not just fires but heart attacks and critical injuries from accidents, drownings, falls and whatever else comes in as an emergency call. They work long hours under stressful and unsafe conditions (three to a truck rather than the national standard four) and are only asking to see where the money is going before they make sacrifices for politicians who want to dole the money out to their friends and lobbyists.

Please, LG. You sound educated. Get informed. There is nothing wrong with getting all the facts and making sure the city has a solid recovery plan before giving up deserved and earned benefits that nobody in their right mind would give up without knowing all the facts.

Oh, and Martinez CANNOT raise taxes this year. And likely won't next year. He thinks he can find monies hidden in the budget through botella and duplicated positions and unnecessary line items that pad the bogus budget in order for them to move around later.

It's easy to get to the bottom of this -- if su alcaldito really wanted to. His "I will not raise taxes" is just a political ploy. You should be smart enough to see through that.

  13. And what do I have in common with the firefighters? That's an easy one. A desire for truth and transparency and a committment to serve the public, through emergency life saving services or public watchdogging.

  18. LG and Citizens of Hialeah: You should know that I am a proud woman of conviction who feels both blest and privileged to call herself an American Firefighter. I am surrounded everyday by people who love and respect me, both by my family and the Department I work in. My family, close friends and of course my faith is what guides me. People like you and your misguided hate are sad to me. You obviously do not have the happiness and the fulfillment that I have and therefore must find blame somewhere. That said, this is America and you are entitled to your vote and I firmly believe you should have it. As long as you are not forced into that vote in any way and of course are of sound body and mind. My parents had enough fortitude to bring me to this wonderful country out of the clutches of that COMMUNIST PIG known as Fidel Castrol for that reason ;so I also may have the right to have a voice regardless if people agreed to it or not. So, have at it. Vote for who you choose. Alternatively, you should never lose sight of the fact that with every vote comes real consequences and no better lesson in life is there than “Trail by Error”. I could say” Thank God I don’t live or work in Hialeah” but I am way too loyal a friend, patriot, and of course firefighter to simply look away. I am disgusted and ashamed at the criminal behavior of the current administration in Hialeah (not that ANY, ANY POLITICANS BEHAVIOR is not subject to being questioned) As I stated above, it is your vote that will either make things better or in fact make them worse in Hialeah. Ultimately, you and your family will have to live with the consequences of your choices not mine. Furthermore, you are grossly underestimating the “TENACITY” that runs through the veins of a firefighter. My friends, this phenomenon cannot be explained. This blood we all bleed is deep, it is strong and it is loyal but we are in fact human and therefore may have times of weakness. Nonetheless we have more determination and in our hearts than your criminal politicians could ever have need for glory. We do not run from fear, we run into it. We will never turn our backs on our responsibilities to our respective communities and our neighborhoods. Even if you spit at us, we will always provide care and protect your property because we took an oath and that oath must never be broken. Because once it is than we become you; and we never want to be you.
So, you see LG and the rest of you haters: regardless if my brothers and sisters within the City of Hialeah Fire are in fact illegally fired; they will never be alone nor will they ever be broken because they are part of something that is bigger than themselves, bigger than you, bigger than any criminal politician. They are part of the FIREFIGHTERS BROTHERHOOD; WHICH HAS AN UNWAVERING RESOLVE

  19. What does Elaine and Johnson have in common starting next week?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Elaine,

I want to reach the bottom of this as much as you do. But that wont happen with convoluted facts and arguments.

"There are no bid contracts in the millions and millions that are doled out."

    - That doesn't mean putting them all up for bid would save 'millions and millions'. Many no-bid are waived because factors other than price are taken into account; factors which are not tangible and cannot be quantified. This occurs at all levels of govt. For example, will the supplier be around for service after the purchase. How long have they been in business, insurance, past experience, etc. Many times they are for mundane items with low profit margins that have been purchased from the same supplier for years and hence the procedures are established. Holding bids every or 2x a month and going through the motions of dealing with a new supplier is many times MORE COSTLY THAN ANY SMALL SAVINGS ATTAINED BY HOLDING competitive bids all the time. Again look at the county this occurs all the time. Even in private industry where efficiency reigns. BTW No-Bids were standard practice with Raul, do you really think he is going to stop?

"The council nor the mayor have made cuts to their salaries in these "tough economic times."

    - The council has made cuts. File a PR request.

"The mayor lies about his cut. He went from making $44,000 a year to making $190,000 a year (plus his $54,000 pension)"

How did you arrive at this!?!? Lets not play stupid here. You would make a great politician with these sorts of arguments.
He changed to a position that was vacated. He took the salary of the new position. Nothing was raised. The net change for the city was ZILCH. And the pension...there is no relevance there, you just wanted to throw out some more numbers it seems.

The water plant is a capital expense to build up the Annex portion of the city. Like any capital expense it requires an upfront investment that will not realized at first. But because of this plant businesses and residents can begin to consider moving into the annex. As for contributions from the builders. YOU SHOULD KNOW that this is standard practice. Anyone who does business for the city contributes to remain in good favor. Many times they contribute to ALL the candidates.

I can keep going but the bottom line the money just isn't there. This is occurring all across the country. Even your buddy Gimenez is facing similar choices.

**NO WHERE IN YOUR EXPLANATION DO YOU LIST CONCRETE, SIZABLE SAVINGS THAT CAN BE REALIZED** Even if i take some of your assumptions as true it still does not add up to the quantities necessary to maintain so many firefighters at the same compensation levels.

You honestly think some pancakes (assuming the city paid for them) and a couple no-bid tires are going to add up to the over 5 million dollars necessary??

Tell Raul to list and add up some hard numbers. Not just some fuzzy hopes about looking for savings here and there.

    ReplyDelete
  21. and your right Elaine.

They have every right to get all the facts before they give up their benefits. They should demand a forensic audit.

But I think many people (employees and residents) now look at them with resentment because they have stooped to the same lows of those they seek to overthrow.

In so doing they have the lost the right to play the victim card.

  24. LG & Citizens of Hialeah the both of you are ridiculous. Seriously…..those firefighter paramedics….thats right 2 different job descriptions & one pay rate…….went to school for up to 4 years to do what they do. The majority of them made sacrifices financially & personally to get to where they are at. They weren't handed anything in life, they earned it through time in service. Sounds like the both of you are disgusted with your life & career decisions. To wish for more unemployed people? Are you kidding me? I am a firefighter paramedic & I also served in the U.S. military for 8 years. What have the both of you done for your country? I bet nothing. 10 years ago in september the fire department & police department were recognized as heroes for their selfless acts which caused many of them their lives. The both of you dizzy individuals need to know that we do this on any given day of the year not knowing if we will go back home to be with our families. This career has also taken away many families. We see thing things the both of you ignorant individuals couldn't imagine. Ex. that little boy who drowned in a lake…..try telling their parents that everything you are doing is not a gaurantee….that they may never hold his/her hand again….after calls like that many of us have to go to counseling for weeks & months at a time. So shut the F*&k up. If you think you can do a better job & or handle the stress I invite you to come ride a long for a month…..Put your money where your mouth is…..

  25. The Truth:

No one is diminishing the work you do for us all.

Don't stray from the matter at hand with appeals to emotion. You should be commended for your service to this country but that does not make you any better than the lady who clean the sh*t stains in our public toilets or the researcher who saves millions of lives with the development of a single vaccine. They have done as much "for this country" as any one else. If you want to get technical, Roofers, Construction workers, and farmers have higher on-the-job mortality rates then firefighters. No one forced you to become a FF paramedic or to join the military-you knew the risks and what the job entailed before and you weighed your options and passions, and made a decision accordingly.

Just like your job entails great risks and hardships it also has many benefits-aside from pay and perks.

Do I hold you to a higher regard then the guy who cuts my lawn. yeah sure. But that's not we are talking about here, is it?

Or maybe the reason you gave me this song and dance about how great you guys are, is because you don't think you guys should make cuts in pay like everyone has had to. Maybe you think the lady who cleans your toilet should take the brunt for you.

EVERYONE IN THIS ECONOMY IS SUFFERING AND HAS TAKEN A HIT. The only ones who haven't are rich bankers. Public servants have been buffered by an institution that is sheltered from the market forces that rule us all. But its your turn to take hit just like everyone else.

The matter at hand is the firefighters and the concessions they need to make so that no one is unemployed.

This is possible with concessions on both sides-but the Union VERY CONSCIOUSLY made selfish calculations so they can the better end of the deal.

Your union leaders are just mischievous and scheming as our politicians.

They should have not sided with ANY politician and just brought out the facts to the public. But they didn't do that. Instead they involved themselves in the dirty underworld of politics. and stood behind a tyrant.

    ReplyDelete
  26. LG again you are misinformed…..for months the union has been asking to see where the 19 million in Hialeah Housing surplus ended up. To no avail it is missing & unaccounted for wit no explanations. You know who was in charge of housing when that happened??????? One Robaina & Hernandez goon who also bankrupted 3 of his own companies……Guess what? HUD refused to work with that said individual…..Even more interesting is that he was never questioned by those 2 goons….I mean come on 19 million dollars & nobody questions it?????? You are one of the dizziest uneducated morons I that I have ever come across. If you really paid attention, the firefighters have given up a lot in concessions in every city across the country that no one has talked about. For ex. in my city we gave up raises for 3 years. These idiot politicians have misspent money for years & now they want all the blue collar workers to pay for it……Also, are you kidding me song & dance again we have given up a lot, you are just not educated enough to know what that is.BTW do you know the millage rate in Hialeah hasn't been raised since 1993??????But we still want that money to last the same??????I really can't stand ignorant people like yourself. One last little tid bit for you to educate yourself, your current mayor is reaping the benefits of his pension & perks, the same ones he is trying to take from people….I guess its all about me me me. Now that he has his forget about every one else???????? SELFISH move!

  30. Hialeah is a mess thankyou for trying to stick up for the citizens of Hialeah. Some of these people responding are very unhappy with life itself. All I know is no one should be able to bully citizens and workers this is why we choose to live in a democratic country. Also we need honest leaders. That seems to be a problem in the city of Hialeah.
